Maneki Neko, the Japanese Lucky Cat
A black cat is seen as a symbol of good luck in some countries, but in others bad luck. The ‘Good Luck’ cat from Japan, the Maneki Neko, crosses all borders, and as he beckons with his raised paw is believed to attract good luck and happy visitors to wherever he is. Guest author, Francine McKenna.
